The Parallel planes are planes of existence which exists within the Prime Material Plane[1] and are reflections of The World.[2] The Parallel planes are defined by a shared geography and bestiary with the World, and are more easily reachable than other planes by inhabitants of the Material Plane.[2][3]

The Parallel planes were created in the days of creation when the Primordials, mighty beings on par with the gods, discarded raw-creation stuff that wasn't necessary for the creation of the World, materials that they found "too bright" or "too dark." Those materials coalesced together, forming copies of the World: the Feywild and the Shadowfell.[4]
